Friday's Feast - 2-15-2008

Appetizer

Name one thing that is unique about you.

I'm 46 and I'm managing to wrap my brain around Calculus. Sort of makes me wish I had been able to take it in High School...but it wasn't offered!

Soup

Fill in the blank: My favorite -color- is -purple- but I like -turquoise, bright pink, cobalt blue, blue-red, aka non-whimpy colors- too.

What type of wood do you have for your home’s furnishings?

Home is an eclectic collection of oak, cherry, iron wood, and pine. Each piece of wood carries a memory. The oak rocker was purchased by my hubby so I could rock our first born (who just recently turned 18), then there is the coffee table that was my grandparent's. My husband has the cherry wood desk from his parents. Great-grandma's secretary's desk is stained dark, but it could be pine...maybe. The iron wood was brought back from Mexico in the 1970s. Grandma and Grandpa carried it across the border (and much of the states) on the top of their make-shift milk truck camper...and after they both passed on, I was lucky enough for my mom to claim the set as one of the 5 items she was allowed to request from the estate. Right by the door is a rustic sofa table created by my dear hubby for an early Christmas present. As it was made from his own hands, that is extremely important.

Main Course

Who do you talk to most often on the phone?

That would be two people, Mom and Vicky. Which reminds me, I need to make a call!

What level of responsibility do you have in your job?

I teach 8-12th mathematics...and I"m reading WAY too much into this question! This position has a high level of responsibility.

Aw, I love furniture that has meaning like that. It becomes more than just a place to rest!

And, seriously, your job is very important. In fact, teachers should make more money than movie stars and writers, except the world would probably end if you were to strike!!

*chuckle* I think teaching math does have a high level of responsibility! I wish I'd taken more of it in college, because I'm certain I'll be doing remedial algebra once I head back.... guhh... I was all right with algebra, except for functions. I never did get the functions... *lol*
